2005 Yearly Report

THE GORDONS

Proxyquest is complete, and the issues of Risk Management concerns for American Mensa have been mostly addressed, and hopefully, satisfactorily for the region. With the help of the polls that have been instituted on the Region 2 Yahoo group, the voting has been tailored to the needs and requests of the region. Legislating common sense, although a difficult concept, can sometimes be made necessary.

At the Annual Gathering in Las Vegas in July of 2004, Region 2 was more then adequately represented, with awards presented to both Delaware Valley and Central New Jersey members in conjunction with their efforts. For the second year in a row, Delaware Mensa was singled out as a Group of the Year.

Membership efforts have been outstanding within the region. We had some of the top attendance figures for National Testing Day, and as a result of this and other efforts, all local groups have seen a rise in membership. Our efforts should continue to be in the direction of harmony and good relations within the groups in order to foster further growth in membership.

Communications between groups is essential, and we should make every effort to allow all the groups to function as one unit, where possible. A leadership summit could be considered, and has been mentioned, and I will be making efforts to see if such an event can take place, for, although the votes of one member of the RVC is limited, the voices and efforts of the second largest region in American Mensa can ensure that the changes that are made meet with the satisfaction of everyone involved.

Gatherings have been successful through the year, my congratulations to all. Future gatherings can be just as successful, and I recommend that the hard work and inspiration that has made them a success to date continue. The website has performed more then adequately, and, hopefully, has served the membership well, thanks to Marianne Demko for her efforts.

Here is wishing us all a great year, and I hope to see as many of you as possible in New Orleans and around the region.
